About the Series
Love Live! Sunshine!! is the second installment in the Love Live! franchise, set in the coastal city of Numazu in Shizuoka Prefecture. The story follows Chika Takami, a student at Uranohoshi Girls’ High School, whose school faces closure after failing to attract a single new applicant for the coming year. To save their school from being shut down, Chika and her friends decide to become school idols, forming the group Aqours to spread the word about their school’s charm.
Numazu: The Real-World Stage of the Series
Nearly all of the pilgrimage spots from Love Live! Sunshine!! are concentrated in Numazu City. From the downtown area near Numazu Station all the way to the Uchiura area in the south, pilgrimage spots are scattered across the entire city, making Numazu a true “sacred ground” for fans of the series.
Numazu City’s Partnership with Love Live! Sunshine!!
The bond between Numazu City and Love Live! Sunshine!! runs deep. Aqours has officially been appointed as Numazu’s tourism ambassadors, known as the “Sansan Numazu Ambassadors.” The music video for Aqours’ 2024 song “Eikyuu Hours” features the charm of Numazu throughout, and the cast even visited Numazu City Hall as part of the local collaboration. The series’ connection with the city continues today through joint projects with the Kanogawa Fireworks Festival, one of Numazu’s signature summer events.
Numazu Downtown Area
This area stretches from around Numazu Station to Numazu Port. It’s home to must-visit spots for fans, including the area in front of Numazu Station, Nakamise Shopping Street, and Oranda-kan Shimokawara, the real-world model for Yoshiko Tsushima’s family home.

Uchiura Area
Located south of central Numazu, this area is home to spots such as Awashima Island, Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium, and Yasudaya Ryokan, the real-world model for Chika Takami’s family inn. There’s no train line to this area, so getting around mainly means taking the bus.
